AN EMBLEM OF FRIENDSHIP.  THE WOUNDED STAG.
It has often been remarked of the stag, that, being wounded
by the hunters, he attempts to take shelter among the first
herd of deer that he espies. . . 
The stag once wounded, 'tis in vain he flies,
In vain to mingle with the her he tries;
The herd avoid him, as marked out for death,
Till in despair he draws his latest breath;
